National museum of San Carlos

From El Pontormo to Murillo. From the Sacred to the Profane.

This exhibition had religion as the main topic. My goal was to create an atmosphere that could evoke the sacred. I chose dark colors for the walls to highlight the light that distinguishes the paintings of the exhibited artists. The gilt frames created the perfect contrast between a dark blue and the light that Murillo used on his canvases.

The design of the route obeys the intention of taking the visitor through the history of painting from the Baroque to Mannerism. The lighting design was based on a study that the company CONSTRULITA carried out in the museum. The most important and renowned paintings in this collection were placed as visual focal points with a special lightning design.
